Gianluca Mazzini was born in 1968. He studied at the University of Bologna, where he earned a degree in Electronic Engineering in 1992 and obtained a Ph.D. in 1996.
Since 1996, he has held a position at the University of Ferrara, where he has been teaching courses in Telecommunications since 1995. He is the author of around 300 peer-reviewed scientific publications. Over the years, he has supervised 150 undergraduate theses and 15 doctoral dissertations. A Fellow of IEEE, he also served as an Associate Editor for the Institute for 9 years and participated in 60 Technical Program Committees. He has been involved in 40 research projects, coordinating 20 of them. He has been a member of several scientific committees, including those of CNIT, GARR, the Emilia-Romagna Technopole, the Emilia-Romagna Regional ICT Plan, ASTER, the Iperbole Wireless project of the Municipality of Bologna, and the Guglielmo Marconi Foundation.
He has served as Director of Research & Development at LepidaSpA, General Director of Cup2000ScpA, a Board Member of LepidaSpA, and a Board Member of CNIT. Since 2009, he has been the CEO of LepidaSpA, which became LepidaScpA in 2019. Since 2019, he has been a Board Member of the Guglielmo Marconi Foundation. In 2023, he also joined the Scientific Board of VSIX.
