Since June 2022, Andrea Billet has been Head of the Certification and Supervision Service of the National Cybersecurity Agency.

Inside the Agency, the Service is in charge of the certification process of digital products and services required by the national, European and international regulatory frameworks. The tasks performed include laboratory tests and the oversight of public and private entities that manage critical IT infrastructures related to national security.

The Service also promotes the use of Cryptography as a security tool in the cyber domain, analyzes emerging technologies for the purpose of evaluating them from an IT security point of view and is responsible for the qualification processes of Cloud services for the Public Administration.

From 2013 to 2021 Andrea Billet was in charge of information security at the Presidency of the Council of ministers, with direct responsibility for the certification of products, the approval of computer networks and cryptographic applications, the accreditation of laboratories and the inspection activities.

Until 2013 he served in the Italian Navy, which he left with the rank of Rear Admiral after holding numerous technical and operational positions.

At the Defense General Staff from 2007 to 2010 he led the Integrated Systems Office of the VI Department, responsible for developing network architectures for military applications ensuring the requirements of security, interoperability and resilience.

From 1997 to 2001 he was national representative in cooperation programs between the Italian and United States navies in the missile sector, first in California, then in Washington D.C..

After training at the Italian Naval Academy, he graduated in Electronic Engineering at the University of Pisa.
In the following years, as Weapon Engineering Officer, he was in charge of combat system management on board Italian Navy ships in different contexts and operational theaters.

Andrea Billet is married to Giovanna and has a daughter.
